EMPLOYEES AT HIKARI
A great work environment where the values of each member are respected.
I work in the machining group of Hikari Kikai Seisakusho where more than 2,000 different products such as cutting tools and parts for in-house-made machines are manufactured. I am from Indonesia and have been in Japan for 19 years. The reason I joined the company was that I was approached by a compatriot who had been working at Hikari. At my previous company, I was often troubled because my values were not respected. However, at Hikari, the values each individual holds dear are respected. People here understand my religious faith and provide a place of worship and allow me to pray during worktime. Also, there are 5 other foreign employees beside me. There are many kind people including my superior and colleagues and I find it very easy to seek advice and communicate in the workplace. I lead a very satisfying work life here in Japan. At present, I take a long vacation once a year to go back to my country. My future goal is to bring my family here to live together while working at Hikari.
I enjoy life in Mie,
which is blessed with nature.
On holidays, I sometimes climb mountains. Tsu has easy access to the airport, which is very convenient when I go back to Indonesia.

This is the environment where women can work at ease and without restraint!
When I was a student at a technical junior college, a job seminar for women students was held. Ms. Nishioka, our company president, was a seminar lecturer. She talked about her upbringing and her career change from an interpreter to the president of Hikari Kikai Seisakusho in spite of her being a woman. Her lecture was so impressive that one of my friends was even moved to tears. I admired her because she had been active in the front line of the industry from the time when the society had been more dominated by men. At the same time, I was inspired to choose my career in the manufacturing sector where there were not many women. Six years have passed since I joined the company. I have never experienced any inconvenience at work because of being a woman. Also, in my section, there is a senior member, who is now teleworking while raising her child. Since I have got married just recently and it is something far down the line. But I am reassured that Hikari Kikai Seisakusho has a system in place for women to work flexibly and I can work here at ease.

Sales & Marketing Department
Always keep myself open to the world.
I used to work for a trading company in Osaka. When I started to consider finding a job in my hometown, I came across Hikari Kikai Seisakusho. While it was based in Mie, it was doing business globally. I was attracted with the scale of its business and decided to join the company. I am mainly responsible for overseas sales and propose machine tools of our brand to overseas plants. My role covers a wide range of work from serving as a bridge between our company design and assembly groups and our users, overseeing an entire project, to arranging export of machinery, all of which I find very challenging and rewarding.
Our products are backed up with superior technology. However, without a good relation between our sales people and our customers, we cannot receive orders. I voluntarily set a target, “Visit customer sites at least twice a month” and treasure direct contacts with customers. It is the most rewarding moment as a sales representative when I hear a customer say, “I place an order because of Mr. Muneno”.
