In the spring of 1946, a small factory, “Hikari Kosakusho”, was born in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture.
Just half a year after the end of World War II, when Japan finally started to take a step toward its post-war reconstruction, Yoshimitsu Nishioka, founder of the company, put his desire to “use technology to lighten up a corner in the industrial world” into the corporate name, “Hikari Kosakusho” meaning Light Works.
Seven years later, Hikari Kosakusho started to graduate from the manufacturing of proprietary technology based spinning machines to focus on the manufacturing of machine tools to meet the high demand of the industry and changed its name to “Hikari Kikai Seisakusho Co., Ltd.
Over a period of more than 70 years, the thought and spirit put in the word Hikari, which have been treasured from the foundation of the company, have been ceaselessly passed down until today.

2012 | Obtained cetification of E-MES, Mie Environmental Management System Exhibited at JIMTOF(Japan Int'l Machine Tool Fair), the world's largest machine tool fair.  |
2013 | Opened "Hikari Laser Lab." in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, to research and develop ultra-fine processing using lasers. |
